Revolutionary Virtual Production: AI & Computer Vision in Modern Filmmaking
It’s almost impossible to exaggerate how much has changed in the past five or six years in the world of visual creativity and film production. What started out as an already impressive world of “Green Screens” and CGI has emerged as a universe of Gen AI video, prompted 3D images and full audio tracks, plus a vast war-chest of pre-visualization tools, all placed in the hands of our greatest storytellers. The industry is revolutionizing before our eyes. Filmmakers are transforming the ideation process, a world of AI and Virtual Production and in a matter of days, weeks and months, bringing it to life as a fully realized feature films, TV shows, advertisements and YouTube videos. In this session, we examine the phenomenon.

Tim Moore, CEO and Co-Founder of Vū Technologies: Three-time Emmy Award winner Tim Moore co-founded Vū, a creative technology company for next-generation content and North America’s largest virtual studio network, and serves as its CEO. Tim and his fellow co-founder Jon Davila established Vū’s first virtual production studio in Tampa Bay, Florida during the COVID-19 pandemic. Believing that an enduring global pandemic exposed an urgent need for virtual production, Tim and Jon developed the technologies and techniques that drove them to open virtual production studios across the country and position Vū as a leading technology company in the growing virtual production market. Today, Vū is home to the largest network of virtual studios and has introduced disruptive technology products like Vū One and Virtual Studio to the market. Focused on simplifying the content creation process through easy-to-operate production platforms and an evolving set of generative AI tools, Vū provides greater access to advanced creative technology to enable the creation of Content at the Speed of Thought (TM). As an intellectually driven entrepreneur, Tim is the holder of several patents for Vū technology. Tim is also a published author, releasing the comprehensive guide to purpose-driven marketing “Sold On Purpose: Marketing to The Conscious Consumer” in 2019. As founder of the Tampa Foundation, a 501(c)(3) non-profit, Tim dedicates pro-bono time to inspire community leaders to uplift their communities through positive public messaging. Tim resides in Tampa with his wife, Ashley and their two school age sons.

Eliot Mack, CEO, Lightcraft Technology: Eliot Mack was the lead mechanical engineer of the original iRobot Roomba, the world's first successful home robot. He started at the University of Michigan and MIT, crashing vehicles into walls for a master's thesis, and then built 5 ton walking dinosaur robots at Walt Disney Imagineering's R&D group. In 2004, having had his fill of chasing dust bunnies, Eliot followed his interests in visual effects and founded Lightcraft Technology. By applying real time robotics technology to the motion picture industry, he went on to create the Emmy Award-winning Previzion and Halide FX virtual studio systems. In 2018, he teamed up with Avid founder Bill Warner and CTO Greg Cockroft to create a new vision of 'ultralight' virtual production technology for everyone, leading to the Jetset iOS app.
