Session I:

The Abraham Lincoln AI: The Archetype of a Virtual Human AI Co-Pilot

This is a what-if question. What if an “Academic AI Co-Pilot” were available with a “Reliable and Expansive Intellect” equal to the Department Chairman of your University’s Computer Science Department – add to that the intellect and comprehensive judgement of the Chairman of the Physics Department as well as the Space Studies Department. And you had the ability to share and interface with that “Computer Model” all day every day. What would access to that AI Co-Pilot mean to your educational, research and intellectual life? What would it mean to access the humanity of Abraham Lincoln as your personal guide throughout a lifetime. In this session we will explore that question.

Session II:

Multimodal Intelligence: Complex AI Models - Input and Prediction – Audio – Text – Video – Image

Today we begin the “Journey of Discovery,” planning the transformation of our University into a world of “AI Co-Pilots.”  Call them “Multimodal Intelligent” computer systems that will be “Trained” by “Architecturally Designed Models” with natural language understanding, expansive computer vision, sensory data and audio analysis. This seminar is intended as a “Gateway to Knowledge,” developing an artificially intelligent computer system that will absorb knowledge from a learning library of text, video, and audio input, to digest, learn and expand as it interacts with its ultimate destination as a human’s Co-Pilot. In this session we will explore what an AI Co-Pilot is, how it is constructed and how to enable and amplify its intelligence.

Session III:

Higher Ed GPT: The Personalized AI for Everyone – Professor – Student – Department

OpenAI was the first AI to open the door to “Everyday AI” for the individual. Like the Apple AppStore, OpenAI has broken the AI barrier to data access and created a world limited only by the imagination of the “Creative AI Community.” Much in the way that websites and blogs and social media became the accelerator of information and media, business and creative communication, AI models through GPTs are quickly revealing a completely new avenue of communication, enabling a Personalized AI for the unlimited imaginations of the world.

Session III:

Ethics in AI and Education: Plagiarism – Bias & Discrimination - Surveillance & Privacy

In this session, we will confront the profound question that AI technologies raise, namely, is the “Embrace of AI in Academia” the beginning of the end of quality education, trust in our institutions and a black hole that will ultimately chip away at the purpose that underscores our reason for being. AI is an exceedingly powerful and seductive tool. It is at once brilliant, profound yet fraught with danger. In this session, we will explore the ethical dimensions at the intersection of artificial intelligence and education, delve into the multifaceted issues surrounding plagiarism, bias, discrimination, surveillance, and privacy and attempt to discover useful options in our road forward.

Session I:

A University - Industry Partnership in AI/ML: Investing in Deep Learning and Proprietary Architecture

Over the past 30 years, the relationship between the University and High Technology industries have become well established. Some of the biggest names in the computer world were incubated, nurtured and financed out of universities. In this session, we will suggest that the partnership that may evolve may be a bit different. Because in the case of AI and ML, the university itself may not only produce the talent necessary for its industry partners to flourish, but in this case, the joint ventures to emerge might also become the tools, the learning engines for the growth of the University itself. This is a “21st Century Collaboration” accelerating both the transformation of industry side by side with a potential revolution in the future of the university.

Session II:

The Challenge: Building an AI University Library: The Power of Natural Language Processing & Multimodal AI

While our major University Libraries may have taken decades, even centuries to bring to life, develop, design and preserve, if it should be determined that a Multimodal AI transformation holds significant value to the “University Community,” then at least one major university, or group of universities should establish the “One Decade AI Challenge: To Create a Best in Class Multimodal University Library; that is, to embark on an extraordinary journey of reimagining the traditional university library as an “AI-Powered Multimodal Hub;” to explore the fusion of Natural Language Processing and Multimodal AI technologies that promise to revolutionize the way knowledge is accessed, shared, and experienced.  The AI Library Challenge Team will be witness to an unexplored world of how university can transform its library into a dynamic, intelligent resource, capable of understanding diverse information formats and sharing that information with literally millions of persons electronically around the world.

Session III:

The Book – The Author – In a Generative AI Publishing Industry
The publishing industry may be entering a complete re-thinking of the medium. For some it will be final nail in the Amazonization of books and for others, it will open the door to an expansive relationship between author and reader.  In a GAI Publishing universe, the very definition of a book will vary depending on the intent of the author. A “Book” may be, like today, a single 100,000 word document. However, at the other end of the publishing spectrum, the book or author may perform as a “Subscription Service,” like HBO, with a monthly or yearly fee, providing a basic text as the starting point in the publishing relationship with the reader. Picture a world where readers can access not only the text of a book but also the very thoughts, insights, and creative processes of the author, the history of the author, including prior works.

Session I:

The Legal Challenge: Copyright and the University AI Co-Pilot - Assembling an AI University Library
The entire predicate of an AI Library and Information Rich AI Co-Pilot is based on the accumulation of massive troves of already existing data – books, audio, video, research papers, transcripts and other data. How to determine the copyright and who and how that data may be processed and distributed? With that thought we enter the domain of the legal system and the myriad cases, current and past which will help to sort out how the future of AI in an academic setting will develop and ultimately be determined. In this session, we will explore the current and future state of copyright law.

Session II:

Let’s Do It! Building Your Own – The University Professor – Personal/Private AI Co-Pilot

In this session, we will demystify the creation of your very own University Professor Personal/Private AI Co-Pilot. First, we will unravel the power of Large Language Models (LLMs), Neural Networks, and Multimodal Intelligence in building a Personal AI. We will explore the foundations of LLMs and their role in understanding and generating human-like text. Next we will dive into the essentials of Neural Networks, the driving force behind AI co-pilots. Finally, we'll guide you through practical steps to embark on your AI co-pilot journey, from data selection to model training – evening breaking down budgets and timelines in the creative process.
