Jason Henderson, Games Product Manager, Verizon Communications: Jason Henderson joined Verizon in August 2005 as the companys first games product manager. Henderson has played a critical role in Verizons recent foray into the games market. Henderson, a Texas attorney, has spent the last 10 years in the games industry. He was credited on games as early as 1997 and as recently as 2005. For Electronic Arts/ Westwood Studios, he served as screenwriter on number one-selling titles "Command & Conquer: Red Alert 2" and story designer on "Command & Conquer: Renegade." He was a screenwriter and voice for Microsofts Freelancer," Ubisofts "Conquest: Frontier Wars," and Ion Storms "Deus Ex: Invisible War." Henderson is the creator of several comic book series including, "Sword of Dracula" and the author of five science fiction novels, including the Warner best-seller "Highlander: The Element of Fire," and "the Iron Thane." He has also penned novels for Marvel's Incredible Hulk, X-Men and Spider-Man. As a screenwriter and story consultant, Henderson has written scripts for Universal Studios, Microsoft Games, Electronic Arts, Digital Anvil, Human Code, Warner Multimedia, Kinesoft, and has written extensively on Japanese animation and pop art. Henderson earned his BA from University of Dallas in 1993 and his JD from Catholic University of America, Columbus School of Law in Washington, D.C., in 1996. Henderson lives in Texas with his wife and two daughters.
Dave Laux, Global Executive, Games and Interactive Entertainment, IBM: As the Global Executive for Games and Interactive Entertainment , Dave leads IBM SMBs efforts in this rapidly growing and strategically important Industry. A long time industry participant (played a lot of games) Dave is responsible for helping Games and Entertainment companies leverage IBMs strength and assets to reduce expenses while increasing efficiency and profitability. Dave has worked with a number of the largest and leading games developers and publishers all over the world to enhance the overall development, delivery, and operations of their games. Dave has presented at a number of leading Games conferences including The Game Developers Conference, Austin Games Conference, Digital Hollywood, China Joy, E3, Leipzig Games Conference, GCDC and many others. He has also been quoted on games topics in The Wall Street Journal, Gamasutra, Game Daily, Marketwire, Game Planet, AfterTV, cNet and several other publications. Currently, there are a number of Daves podcasts on the games industry and technologies available on the web. Dave actively encourages industry interest and participation among High School girls and minority students through the presentation of IBM Future of Games program at High Schools throughout the community. Dave joined IBM in 1994 to help form a new sales organization, which grew in sales from $25 Million to $1.6 Billion in 1998. Dave went on to lead a national Telecommunications Sales Team for IBM and IBMs GMB NetGen Business Unit. In 2000 Dave joined IBMs Venture Development Organization to explore new emerging opportunities for IBM, as well as managing IBMs relationship with several key Venture Capital Firms. Dave was an Investment Banker and Retail Broker for several National and Regional Investment Banks and Brokerage firms prior to joining IBM. He also started and managed several successful entrepreneurial endeavors.
Isaac Babbs, CEO, Tapatap, Inc.: Isaac has spent more than 20 years as a software, media and entertainment executive successfully growing a wide range of media, gaming, and software businesses. He most recently served as VP and General Manager at InfoSpace Mobile Games. Prior, Isaac co-founded Atlas Mobile, and served as president and CEO until it was acquired by InfoSpace, Inc. (NASDAQ: INSP) in July 2004. Isaac successfully led Atlas Mobile in launching the largest and fastest growing multiplayer tournament for prize services in the world, with over 13 million tournament games played in its first year. Prior to Atlas Mobile, Isaac was President of Sorrent (now Glu Mobile, Inc.), a leading mobile game company where he was responsible for all business aspects of the company including carrier distribution, publishing, marketing, and business development He was also responsible for signing and launching basketball star Yao Ming as the first major professional athlete to make his electronic character debut in a cell phone game. Prior to Sorrent, Isaac was a senior business development executive at Macromedia where he co-founded shockwave.com US and shockwave.com Japan, the #1 interactive entertainment sites in their countries. Isaac was also general manager and VP of Macromedia's audio/video division, which he led and then successfully sold to Apple Computers. The division's main product, Final Cut Pro, is the world leader in non-linear editing. Prior to Macromedia, Isaac was VP of Entertainment Marketing at Silicon Graphics, Inc., where he leveraged SGI's technology and brand to grow the company's share of the global entertainment content creation and production market. Isaac also held senior management positions at Alias/Wavefront, an SGI company, and Alias Research, Inc., leading providers of 3D animation and design software for the entertainment and design industries. Isaac began his career with the Hewlett Packard Company and holds a BA in Chemistry from the University of Oregon. Isaac has been invited to speak at numerous industry conferences including MEF CTIA, E3, TWST and the Mobile Multiplayer Games Conference.
Tim Walsh, EVP at IGA Worldwide. Tim has more than 20 years of publishing experience beginning with Capitol Records / EMI Music in 1986. He partnered with other software entrepreneurs in 1989 to launch Design Science, Inc. and soon thereafter entered into a long-term partnership with Microsoft. In 1992 Mr. Walsh entered the interactive entertainment industry holding several positions at Time Warner Interactive and their associated labels, Atari Games, Tengen and Accolade. In 1997 he joined THQ and was responsible for establishing and growing their international publishing business. THQ subsequently became one of the top publishers in all of their respective markets and grew from around $60 million in revenue to over $800 million in revenue. In 2002 Mr. Walsh was appointed Senior Vice President of International Publishing and a Corporate Officer of THQ, Inc. In 2003, he was appointed President of THQ Wireless, Inc. and established THQ as a leader in the new mobile content industry. At the end of 2005 he left THQ to launch the Tour of California by partnering with Phil Anschutz and his company AEG. Mr. Walsh excels by driving growth in start -up operations in new industries. His extensive contacts and reputation in the video game business makes him ideally suited to manage the publisher and developer relations at IGA Worldwide. Mr. Walsh holds a BA from Loyola Marymount University and a MBA from the University of Southern California.
Mike Vorhaus, Managing Director, Frank N. Magid Associates: Mike founded the Magid Internet and New Media research and consultation practice in 1995, beginning with projects for AOL and Excite. Mike has participated in hundreds of studies for our clients and personally consults a number of leading Internet and gaming companies. Mike has been involved in strategic and tactical consulting, including the launch of new services and programming, as well as development and implementation of online and offline marketing programs. Mike has also been extensively involved in video and PC gaming strategies for a number of major gaming companies, as well as the development of game concepts. Mike has also consulted on a number of film projects such as You've Got Mail and The Matrix. He holds a B.S. in psychology and sociology from Wesleyan University and has worked as a fundraiser and transfer of technology officer at the California Institute of Technology and the University of California. Mike also worked for the U.S. House of Representatives, The U.S. Senate, and for two administrations in the White House.
