Josette Bonte is currently the Chief Digital Media Strategist in Ciscos IBSG Global Media and Satellite Practice. Bonte is a digital media and filmed entertainment expert. She spent the first 11 years of her career as film and television industry executive in Hollywood and the past 14 years in the fields of telecom, interactive television, broadband content and online games. Josette joins Cisco from Cookie Jar Entertainment, the producers of the acclaimed Kids TV series: Arthur, Caillou, Zaboomafoo, The Doodlebops, etc., where she was the VP of Digital Media. As such, her responsibilities included negotiating distribution agreements with all the new media platforms (telco VOD, IPTV, broadband and mobile) in the domestic and international markets. She previously served as Ovums Vice President of Content and IPTV, working on IPTV deployment strategies with service provider clients like AT&T, France Telecom and BT. Besides her consulting experience while at Ovum and earlier at RHK, Josette has also worked as Chief Content Advisor to the PanAmSat Net 36 Team; where she concentrated on broadband content strategy and customer acquisition. Bonte is also a telco TV pioneer: In 1994, she joined then US West (now Qwest) as Head of Strategic Marketing, Entertainment and Interactive Services, where she participated in the companys early interactive media and VoD trials and soon became the companys Liason with the Hollywood entertainment industry for content strategy. In the eighties, Josette served as Executive Director of Unifrance Film, where she represented the French motion picture and television industries in Hollywood. She subsequently founded EuroScreen Partners, a film production and distribution company capitalized by European cable operators and banks. Josette received an M.F.A from the UCLA School of Film and Television in 1981 and a Ph.D. in Telecommunications and New Media from the Sorbonne in 1996. She is also the author of a best-selling book published by French publisher PUF in 1995 entitled La Television a la Carte aux Etats-Unis.
Darcy Lorincz, CEO, Origin Digital Inc.: Together with the co-founders he is responsible for building the business plan and raising the capital to privatize this company derived from assets acquired from public company SAVVIS Communications. Previously Mr. Lorincz was the Vice President and General Manager of Global Rich Media Services at SAVVIS Communications where he built the Media and Entertainment Division from its inception to the business today at over $80M annual revenue contributing to 10% of SAVVIS current annual revenue. He has over 20 years building, implementing, and managing technology strategies, products, and solutions for the IT, telecommunications, and networking industries. In his current role, Lorincz will be directing this new venture and building Origin Digital into a premier provider of Digital Media products and Services. Prior to joining SAVVIS, as VP Americas, Mr. Lorincz helped set the global strategy for the Networking and Communications segment of the BBC Technology product and marketing focus, primarily focused on New Media in IP and Mobile program distribution. Prior to joining the BBC, Lorincz was the Managing Director for M&E at Global Crossing. There he directed the strategy for entry and growth of Global Crossing in the Media & Entertainment markets. He then directed the execution of the technology strategy and operating plan for a global applications-enabled media extranet for on-demand and consumption based network services.
Joe Ferreira, Senior Vice President, Content Acquisition and Creative Liaison, CBS Interactive Entertainment: In May 2008, Joe was named Senior Vice President, Content Acquisition and Creative Liaison for CBS Interactive Entertainment. Ferreira, who most recently served as Senior Vice President/GM of the CBS Audience Network, handles all interactive content acquisition efforts for CBS.com, TV.com, the CBS Audience Network and TheInsider.com. He is also the key creative liaison with CBS Network properties for web extensions and interactive programs and applications. The TV.com responsibilities came about due to CBS Interactives recent acquisition of CNET properties. Prior to his current role, Ferreira oversaw the launch and implementation of the CBS Audience Network from Spring 2007 through Spring 2008. He coordinated among various CBS properties to oversee programming and syndication decisions for the CBS Audience Network and managed the relationships with online partners that includes YouTube, AOL, MSN, TV.com, TVGuide.com, Yahoo, Comcast, Joost, Veoh, Bebo and Sling Media, among others. Together, these partners distribute CBS content to nearly 90% of the Web through the Companys open, non-exclusive content syndication strategy. Since 2000, Ferreira had been responsible for content and programming of CBS SportsLine.com sites and served as Executive Producer. He also spearheaded two major projects that received acclaim and awards in the Interactive space: In 2006 and 2007 he managed all aspects of the Emmy-winning NCAA March Madness on Demand, which made the games available for free online. The MMOD offering exceeded expectations in terms of user participation and technology capabilities and was heralded as a watershed moment in Internet history. Weeks later Ferreira served as Executive Producer of Amen Corner Live, an Internet-only live webcast from the famous 11th, 12th and 13th holes at Augusta National Golf Club. Both March Madness on Demand and Amen Corner Live received Emmy nominations for Original Broadband Coverage and March Madness on Demand won the Emmy in 2007. Prior to joining CBS SportsLine.com, Ferreira worked at the NFL as Director of Broadcasting and Research and then as Senior Director of Broadcasting and Scheduling. In this later role he served as a main League liaison with the broadcast networks and radio properties that carried the NFL games. He was directly involved with negotiations of the NFL network television contracts in 1993 and 1997 and was the Leagues main television ratings and programming analyst. He was also responsible for the annual construction of the 248-game NFL playing schedule. From 1990-1992 Ferreira worked as Director of CBS Sports Research where he coordinated all programming and sales research. From 1987-1990 Ferreira held various jobs within NBC including Administrator of Programming for NBC Sports and Manager of Sports Research. Ferreira graduated from Ball State University School of Radio/TV in 1984. Ferreira and his wife Sande reside in Westlake Village, CA. They have two sons, J.J. (12) and Sean (10).
Michael S. Scherotter, Media & Communications Industry Architect, Microsoft Corporation: Michael Scherotter is an Industry Architect for Media and Communications with Microsoft Corporation based out of San Francisco. As part of Microsoft's Communications Sector evangelism team, Michael focuses on interactive client solutions for communications and media companies. Educated as an architect, Michael Scherotter brings a sense of creativity and design to synergistic software development and throughout his 12-year career in software development, Michael has specialized in combining software in innovative ways. He architected and developed desktop CAD applications for Boise Cascade Corporation, managed software development teams at Mindjet Corporation, and engaged with partners as a Business Solutions Architect at Mindjet by creating and building solutions for the popular community site mindjetlabs.com. Michael has a Bachelors of Architecture and a Masters of Architecture specializing in Design Tool Development. Michael lives in Fairfax, California with his wife Liz, and two boys Alex and Sam.
Cheryl Lucanegro, Vice President of Advertising Sales, Pandora: Cheryl Lucanegro oversees Pandora's growing national ad sales team as well as the ad operations group. She is a media industry veteran with a reputation for building and growing new media outlets. Cheryl was part of the founding team of The Industry Standard, and has since worked for several entrepreneurial media ventures, from Salon.com, where she served as Senior Vice President of Integrated Sales, to Edutopia, a magazine and website aimed at teachers funded by the George Lucas Foundation, where she most recently served as Founding Publisher. Earlier in her career, she worked for Ziff-Davis Publishing and Upside Media. Cheryl has a Bachelor of Science degree in Journalism from the University of Florida. She currently sings and plays piano with the "Kayotics", a group of girl friends who sing and co-write clever lyrics to favorite tunes together for parties and weddings.
Arlene Zeichner, Principal, Selavy Associates: Zeichner has more than 25 years of experience in entertainment, new business models, market analysis and emerging technologies. She most recently managed film and television content alliances for Intel. Zeichner also has deep expertise in cable TV and mobile delivery platforms. With her experience in content production, business development and technology enablement, she offers a unique and valuable perspective on video content exploitation via multiple platforms to multiple devices. Her consulting clients span the spectrum of media players, including production, distribution and financing entities: studios, cable channels, production and post-production companies, VCs, Internet ventures, advertising agencies, and providers of interactive-TV tools. Zeichner has helped senior executives develop strategies for entering new markets, craft long-term strategies and retool existing ones to respond to market shifts. She has written marketing plans, financial and investor-oriented business plans and evaluated media-investment opportunities for VCs. Previously, Zeichner was Vice President, Programming and Business Development at Columbia TriStar Interactive (now Sony Pictures Digital Entertainment) where she developed and executed the plan for the studio's entry into the online business, including advertiser-supported original content, online games based on studio properties, and promotional sites for the studio's shows, films and videos.
