The Mobile Platform 2.0: Establishing the Personalized Video, Music, and Communications Experience The next generation mobile device has set a new threshold of design, elegance and features that all future mobile devices will be compared to. The Mobile Platform 2.0 will no longer be acceptable to the consumer as anything less. It is possible that a mobile device offer a specific feature a communications tool or entertainment concept and specialize in just that in other words, it is not clear that the Mobile Platform 2.0 be an all-in-one product. Nevertheless, the next generation devices have forever raised the bar for what all future mobile platforms must aspire to. In this session, we will address Mobile 2.0 the features, the network capabilities and consumer expectations. Fred McIntyre, Senior Vice President, AOL: Fred McIntyre is Senior Vice President of AOL Video, where he directs the team that leads and executes AOL's comprehensive strategy for online video, WinAmp and AOL Radio. McIntyre joined AOL in 1999 and has worked in a variety of capacities, including most recently Vice President of Programming and Media Networks for AOL for Broadband. He also spent several years as Vice President of Business Development for AOL Entertainment where his responsibilities included mapping and implementing the strategy that established AOL as a premier online destination and industry partner for Games, Movies, Music, Radio, Television, and Ticketing. Prior to AOL, McIntyre held senior management positions at Spinner.com, VIBE Magazine and SPIN Magazine.
Jim Hollingsworth, Senior VP of Sales & Marketing, Gracenote: Bringing over 25 years of experience in the consumer electronics industry, Hollingsworth leads Gracenote's global marketing throughout the Americas, Asia and Europe. Joining Gracenote in 2004, Hollingsworth was previously President of ReplayTV a subsidiary of Denon and Marantz Holdings. Prior to D&M's acquisition of ReplayTV, Hollingsworth was Vice President of Worldwide Sales and Marketing, where he oversaw four major product lines (RIO Digital Audio, GoVideo, ReplayTV and Diamond Multimedia). Previously, Hollingsworth was Vice President of Marketing, Computer Products at Sony Corp., and was integral in the launch of the VAIO line of PCs and Peripherals. Prior to that, he spent two years at StarSight Telecast (now Gemstar, Inc.), where he was responsible for licensing StarSight's technologies to the consumer electronics industry. He began his career with nine years at Sony Consumer Electronics and an additional three years at Panasonic, where he held roles in sales and marketing.
Bill Stone, Chief Executive Officer, Handango: Mr. Stone was appointed chief executive officer of Handango in November 2007. He was recruited to help aggressively drive Handango to the next level by leveraging his extensive wireless experience in the mobile content arena. Having spent his entire 16-year career in the wireless industry, Mr. Stone brings a deep understanding of content and the global wireless ecosystem. Before joining Handango, Mr. Stone was the president of Ampd Mobile. Responsible for the strategy, planning, and day-to-day operations of the mobile entertainment company, Mr. Stone helped deliver industry- leading mobile content revenue metrics, as well as numerous firsts in the mobile entertainment industry, including the launch of pay-as-you-go on 3G network, the development of Original Music and Video Series for mobile, and live event simulcasts to mobile. Prior to Ampd, Mr. Stone was a vice president at Verizon Wireless, where he was responsible for strategy, planning, mobile content, music, e-commerce, and a variety of marketing functions including CRM, segmentation, pricing, and promotion. Before Verizon, Mr. Stone was the chief marketing officer for Vodafone Australia where he oversaw all marketing activities including branding, pricing, product, promotion and distribution. Mr. Stone also served as chief marketing officer of J-Phone Tokyo (currently Softbank Mobile), where he helped launch the first SMS, web browsing, ringtone, picture messaging and color devices in Japan. As product development director at AirTouch Cellular, Mr. Stone led the efforts in launching the first CDMA technology and pre-pay offering in the United States. Mr. Stone holds a bachelor's degree in economics and political science and an MBA in international management and finance, both from Rice University. Bill and his wife, Audrey, have three children, Will, Andrea, and Alexandra.
Bryan Biniak, Founder & CEO of Jacked, Inc.: Bryan Biniak is the founder and CEO of Jacked, Inc. the leading producer of interactive broadcasts. Jackeds SportsTop fuses live telecasts with the interactivity of the Web, publishing relevant content synchronized with the sportscasts. Jacked serves as the interactive sportscast platform for a nuber of media companies including Yahoo, CBS Television, Versus, Big Ten Network, and Raycom Sports among others. Biniak is also the founder and managing director of Provenance Ventures. Most recently, Biniak served as senior vice president and general manager of AG Interactive at American Greetings Corporation (NYSE), launching Unvision Movil, Def Jam Mobile, SI Mobile, and Blue Mountain Mobile, as well as Microsoft's MSN Messenger and Messenger Live content storefronts. Prior to AG, Bryan served as COO and EVP of sales and marketing for Vivendi Universal's wireless subsidiary Moviso. Bryan served as COO of YourMobile which was sold to Vivendi Universal. He was founder and CEO of China-based Musiczone.He also was vice president and founding member of Harmonix Music Systems, developer of Guitar Hero and Rock Band.
Francisco Varela, Head, Mobile Operator Relationships: YouTube: Francisco Varela leads mobile operator relationships for YouTube. He has global responsibilities for creating and overseeing YouTube's strategic partnerships with companies such as Vodafone, T-Mobile, Verizon, Sprint and DoCoMo. Mr. Varela also works on product strategy for the YouTube mobile site and other YouTube syndication efforts. Prior to joining YouTube, Mr. Varela worked for the mobile software company Openwave Systems in London, responsible for Openwave's EMEA legal team. Mr. Varela also spent nearly five years as International Counsel at Yahoo! Inc., where he worked on Yahoo!'s strategic alliances and acquisitions, including Yahoo!'s mobile efforts with companies such as Telia Sonera and sponsorship of the FIFA World Cup. Mr. Varela earned his Juris Doctor degree from the University of California, Berkeley, and was selected in his third year to study at the Harvard Law School.
