The consumer has upgrade to DTV and HD, signed on for broadband and has multiple mobile accounts. The numbers are still coming in, but digital and triple play upgrades are approaching 60 million homes. Soon the majority of homes will have access to the advanced set-top features only dreamed about a few years ago. Serving this digital consumer universe is the challenge that the technology industry must face. Expanded bandwidth and near unlimited storage is an expectation that the consumer expects the industry to deliver on. The technology behind the cable, broadband and mobile industries is the secret sauce that makes all video all the time a reality. Rajan Samtani, Director of Business Development, Digimarc Corporation: Rajan Samtani is responsible for Digimarc’s intellectual property licensing and business development efforts to promote the use of Digital Watermarking applications in the Audio/Music market. Prior to Digimarc, Raj was at ContentGuard, Inc. where he was responsible for licensing intellectual property to device manufacturers and services providers in the digital media market. Before ContentGuard, Raj was a founder of TheDealerNetwork, Inc., a B-2-B exchange in the personal computer industry. Prior to that, he led sales, marketing and business development at REAL Software Systems, the leading application software vendor dealing with business rights and royalties in the entertainment, media, publishing and software markets. Raj has a BA in Economics from UCLA. He has been a frequent featured speaker, panelist and moderator at several industry events such as Digital Hollywood, Jupiter DRM, Jupiter PlugIn, IMS Research, Building Blocks and Music 2.0 among others.

Katherine L. Parker, Global Business Development Manager, Media & Entertainment, Communications and Media Industry Practice, Sun Microsystems: Katherine is responsible for business development, digital media solution initiatives and executive engagement in the broadcast/ cable TV and film studio industries for Sun Microsystems. In her current role, she manages go-to-market activities with leading clients and solution partners. Earlier at Sun, Katherine developed the partner portfolio and go-to-market strategy for Sun in media, entertainment and publishing markets. Katherine hosted the Sun Media & Entertainment User Group 1999-2001 in Los Angeles and earlier founded Sun's first Digital Media Solutions Center in New York. Additionally, Katherine was a member of Sun's web services software organization, specializing in Identity Management. Ms. Parker is a recognized market expert and a frequent presenter at NAB, Digital Hollywood/CES, and Jupiter DRM Conference. She also served as VP, Chapter Development for the Global Society for Asset Management (G-SAM) from 2002-2005, and authored the 2004 and 2005 G-SAM DAM Report.

Michel Billard, CEO and Chairman of the Board Michel Billard is an entrepreneurial director with more than 15 years of experience in managing R&D, manufacturing and business development. Prior to joining Itiva, Michel most recently served as Director of Strategic Initiatives for HP-Digital Entertainment Services where he was responsible for identifying technologies for accelerating HP’s market presence. He also led the development of the HP Linux-based Media Hub presented by former HP CEO Carly Fiorina in CES 2005. In 2003, Michel left HP for two years to join Apple Computer to lead the PowerBook Engineering Team where he introduced two generations of Aluminum PowerBooks. Michel Billard began his career at HP in 1991 in Grenoble, France, and later moved to Cupertino in 1999, where in he became Director of Manufacturing for HP’s NetServer division. Michel Billard received an EMA degree in France, an MSEE equivalent, and participated in INSEAD, an advanced management development program.


Kelly Egan, Vice President of Business Development, Swarmcast: Kelly Egan is vice president of business development at Minneapolis and Tokyo-based Swarmcast. He is responsible for all facets of Swarmcast’s business development and sales activities. Formerly the Director of Entertainment Strategy at Best Buy, Kelly developed strategic initiatives targeting new media distribution platforms, mobile entertainment and digital content opportunities. Previously, Kelly was an associate in the Media and Entertainment practice at IBM Global Strategy Consulting. Prior to IBM, Kelly led Internet Strategy at video game publisher, Activision. While at Activision, he supervised the online marketing for many blockbuster titles, including: Quake II, Interstate-76 and Dark Reign. Kelly began his career as a television producer at Chicago PBS affiliate, WTTW, producing the movie review program Sneak Previews and WorldStage Chicago, which received the Emmy in 1995 for Best Musical Special. He holds a BA in Mass Media Studies and Film from Loyola University of Chicago and an MBA from The Thunderbird School of Global Management.

Matt West, VP Mobile Media Worldwide, Alcatel (pvNS): Matt joined Alcatel in February 2005 as VP Mobile Media Worldwide. Matt’s role is to work with media and content companies to help in the enablement and launch of innovative revenue generating mobile media video and audio services. Previously, Matt was Director of enhanced TV for chellomedia (UPC) interactive services, where he had responsibility for enhanced TV activity throughout Europe. Matt has extensive broadcast experience, prior to chello he was Head of Sales for ntl Broadcast media solutions (now Arqiva), where for 5 years he oversaw ntl’s portfolio of solutions for major UK, US and European broadcasters. Matt has also spent 18 months in the US interactive TV environment working on sales and business development strategies.

David Trescot, Vice President of the Rhozet Business Unit at Harmonic Inc.: As Vice President of the Rhozet Business Unit at Harmonic Inc., Mr. Trescot is responsible for product development, sales, and marketing of Rhozet’s universal media transcoding solutions. These solutions are used to rapidly convert video between all major formats for broadcast, Web and mobile applications, and are in use by companies such as CNN, BBC, ESPN, Yahoo!, MSN, and Amazon.com. Most recently CEO of Rhozet Inc., Mr. Trescot held several senior management positions including Vice President of Product Management and Marketing for Avvenu, Inc., a Silicon Valley startup focused on mobile device technologies. Prior to Avvenu, he managed the Digital Video Group at Adobe and was responsible for the product direction and marketing for Adobe’s entire range of media applications, including Adobe Premiere Pro, After Effects, Encore, and Audition. Mr. Trescot earned both a Bachelor’s and Master’s degree in Electrical Engineering from the University of Florida.

Lance Ware serves as the Chief Technology Officer for Technicolor’s Electronic Distribution Services group and has over a decade of digital media space experience. As CTO, Mr. Ware is responsible for Technicolor’s digital supply chain platform that supports content ingest, hosting, security, delivery, and fulfillment. Prior to Technicolor, Mr. Ware was the co-founder and CEO of SyncCast, a leading digital media fulfillment company specializing in encoding & transcoding, digital rights management, delivery & distribution as well as content management services. The technologies and services developed under Mr. Ware’s tutelage power solutions for such distinguished companies as Microsoft, Billboard, Warner Music Group, The Motion Picture Association of America, Lionsgate Entertainment, NBC Universal, EMI Music Group, DirecTV and many others. One crowning achievement of Mr. Ware’s career is the role that he and SyncCast played in launching Microsoft’s Xbox Video Market Place. Mr. Ware brought the end-to-end electronic fulfillment assets of SyncCast to bear that enabled Microsoft Xbox to successfully capture the second highest market share in the video download space - within a matter of months. The success of this accomplishment caught the attention of Technicolor which fully acquired SyncCast in July of 2007 and appointed Mr. Ware as CTO. Mr. Ware hails from California and received a Bachelor of Science degree from Rochester Institute of Technology.
