Mobile TV & Video: The Establishment of a Personalized Entertainment Platform: Content & Commerce
To fully appreciate and understand the parameters and momentum behind the move to broadband and video on mobile platforms, it is critical to have a grasp of the technology and the devices which drive the system and define how the consumer will be able to experience mobile video, film and TV. In this session, we bring together a group of knowledgeable executives in the mobile technology, content and advertising space, all members of companies who are playing a formative role in the evolution of the mobile broadband universe. The explosion of content on mobile is simply a reflection of how great the enabling technologies and the networks are and there is no question that with the advancements being made on all fronts, the ability for the consumer to appreciate and experience high quality mobile is not in question.

Stephen Condon, Vice President, Worldwide Marketing, Verisign: Stephen Condon brings more than 20 years of marketing experience to Verisign from the advertising, entertainment and technology industries. His primary role as Vice President, Worldwide Marketing, is to establish a leadership position for Verisign in the Media and Entertainment marketplace. His responsibilities include strategic marketing, marketing communications , tradeshow strategy, and packaging solutions specifically for the Media and Entertainment marketplace. Condon commenced his career in advertising working for J. Walter Thompson and Chiat/Day on leading brands such as Kraft Foods and NutraSweet. His advertising career introduced him to the high technology entertainment business when he worked on the hugely successful launch of DIRECTV. He later joined DIRECTV, as Senior Director of Marketing and was responsible for program marketing and subscriber acquisition promotions. In 1998 Condon moved from delivering video over satellite to delivering video on the Internet and joined INTERVU as Vice President of Marketing where he lead strategic marketing efforts and marketing communications up until the Akamai acquisition. Since then, Condon has held various senior technology marketing positions including Chief Marketing Officer of Intertainer, which was one of the first online video delivery portals. Most recently he was Vice President of Marketing for broadband video ASP Entriq. He holds a bachelor's degree in business and has undertaken post graduate studies in Marketing at Monash University in Melbourne, Australia.

Mike Bailey is vice president of programming for MediaFLO USA Inc., a subsidiary of QUALCOMM Incorporated that is revolutionizing the mobile entertainment experience. MediaFLO USA aggregates premium, full-length content from the best-known entertainment brands, delivering a mobile entertainment service, called FLO TV, to mobile phones via a dedicated nationwide multicast network. In his role at MediaFLO USA, Bailey is responsible for FLO TV programming, including identifying content opportunities, collaborating with content providers and determining overall content packaging and positioning. Prior to joining QUALCOMM, Bailey was vice president of sales for Entriq, an International Pay TV company, where he launched broadband services with content providers including MTV, NBC/Universal, 2004 Olympics, Major League Baseball, WWE and Echostar. Previously, Bailey also served as vice president of programming for a subsidiary of Motorola, where he was responsible for content strategy, licensing and acquisition, and as vice president of worldwide programming for On Command, where he negotiated hundreds of deals with major motion picture studios including Disney, Fox, Universal, Sony, Paramount, MGM, DreamWorks and Warner. Bailey was also responsible for all cable network acquisitions, advertising, promotion and new product development. Bailey holds a B.A. in telecommunications and film from San Diego State University and an MBA from the University of San Diego.

Steve Johnson, Chief Executive Officer, Choicestream: Steve Johnson is a seasoned executive with a track record of building innovative technologies into successful enterprises. Mr. Johnson started his career by founding Johnson-Grace Company to capitalize on the Internet's unlimited potential for media distribution. The patented compression technology developed by Johnson-Grace and embedded into America Online's client, made fast, easy distribution of images, sound and video a reality for millions of consumers and enabled unprecedented access to content. In 1996, AOL purchased Johnson-Grace and made Mr. Johnson Vice President of AOL's Software and Technology Development division where he brought leading-edge media, telephony and broadcast products to market. In 2000, Mr. Johnson founded ChoiceStream to help consumers navigate through this new era of easy access to virtually infinite choices.







Frank Barbieri, founder, Chairman and CEO, Transpera: Frank founded Transpera with the vision of helping normal people enjoy new kinds of mobile video experiences. Frank recently ran media products at InfoSpace and also ran the Windows Mobile Media Device and Services group at Microsoft. Frank also held a senior position at Onvia, a company he helped take public, and MSNBC where he drove the online video distribution business and interactive content division. He has most recently worked in the private equity industry doing mobile and entertainment strategy and portfolio company support. Frank started his career as a photojournalist documenting the plight of refugees globally.













Henri LINDE, President, Americas, Actimagine Corp.: Henri joined Actimagine Corp. as President Americas in April 2007 to set up and manage Actimagine’s operations in the Americas. His mission is to define long term strategy to establish Mobiclip™, the company’s software video codec, as de facto video standard for mobile consumer electronics products. Before joining Actimagine, Henri Linde was Vice President, Intellectual Property & Licensing for France-based Thomson, which serves as the exclusive licensing representative of mp3 patents and software of the Fraunhofer Institute in Germany. Responsible for the Thomson licensing and business development programs, Henri played an instrumental role in helping make mp3 the de facto standard and the recognized leader in audio compression technology. Throughout his tenure with Thomson, Henri helped fuel mp3's rapid expansion through agreements with well over 400 companies across the Internet and dedicated player-recorder industries. Recognized for his experience and skills in marketing and negotiations, Henri began his association with Thomson in 1994 with an extensive background in Banking, Finance and Pharmaceuticals. Prior to joining Thomson, he worked for Pierre Fabre Médicament (Castres, France) and Credit Lyonnais Bank Nederland (Rotterdam, Netherlands).

Frank Chindamo, President and Chief Creative Officer, Fun Little Movies: Frank Chindamo is the President and Chief Creative Officer of Fun Little Movies. "FLM" specializes in producing original, live-action comedy films for its mobile channels of entertainment on Sprint-Nextel, Microsoft, Smart Video phones, in the US and many other countries around the world. They’re known as "Fun Funny Phone Films." Fun Little Movies has been the subject of cover stories in Forbes Magazine and the L.A. Times, and stories in Variety, Hollywood Reporter, CBS Radio, Wired Magazine, CBS TV’s Inside Edition, The Chicago Tribune, and several other outlets. Frank Chindamo holds the world's record for most short films made independently. His films have appeared on HBO, Showtime, CBS, PBS, A&E, Playboy, MTV and Comedy Central, etc. They’ve won 20 awards including The American Cine Golden Eagle, The American International Film Festival and a Finalist's Place for Best Short at the Cannes Film Festival. Frank is also an Adjunct Professor at the University of Southern California. At USC, Frank teaches short screenplay writing. He also created the Student Script Database, the tool which will allow directors and writers to pool their talent and is intended to bring the best-written scripts at USC to the screen. As Executive Director of the Staged Screenplay Reading Series at the Lee Strasberg Theater, and as the Director of the Professional Screenwriting Workshops at SONY Studios, Chindamo developed fourteen feature films which have been produced for the screen. Frank also taught at the Gotham Writer’s Workshop and City University of New York. Frank was also a Vice President of Development at two production companies in LA and has worked as a script consultant on numerous projects. Frank Chindamo received his Film B.F.A. from N.Y.U. and his Screenwriting M.F.A. from Columbia University.
