Jeff Binder, President, Broadbus: Jeffrey Binder is a Broadbus founder and serves as President. He was previously CEO of Magic Music, where he managed development of three generations of DRAM based server technology, overseeing the overall operations of the company from start-up to 30%+ market-share in just two years. He was formerly founding CEO of the Leading Golf Companies, successfully delivering frequency marketing client/server technology and systems in partnership with the top 500 golf courses in the US and major airlines, including American Airlines and TWA. Binder is a named inventor to several Broadbus patents and continues to collaborate and innovate with the Broadbus team. He has authored key vision documents published in major industry journals regarding television-on-demand (TOD®), and frequently presents at major audio and cable industry events. In addition, he serves on the boards of Greater Chicago Bank (a regional FDIC Banking), and FastenerOasis, Inc., (the e-commerce arm of one of the largest fastener distributors in the US). He is a member of NCTA, CTAM, SCTE and has been a member of the National Academy of Recording Arts and Sciences since 1988.
Matthew de Ganon, Vice President and General Manager, Consumer Application So ftware, The Weather Channel Interactive (TWCI): Matthew de Ganon is vice president and general manager of consumer application software at The Weather Channel Interactive (TWCI). For TWCi, Matthew is charged with leading the company's rapidly expanding efforts in the consumer applications space, with a focus on desktop software. Matthew oversees development and execution of product and new business strategies; works with TWCi's robust ad sales and database marketing teams to develop innovative advertising products; and creates extensive relationships and other creative distribution channels for user acquisition. Since 1992, Matthew has advised corporations on the strategic use of online technology, including Morgan Stanley, Bristol-Myers Squibb, Hewlett Packard, NCR, LEXIS-NEXIS, Prudential Securities, ABB, Sony and WorldCom. His experience with such clients led him to architect W3 Organizational Modeling, a model for performance optimization and profitability improvement of online operations. From 1994 to its successful sale in 2001, Matthew's abilities helped propel the evolution of K2 Digital, one of the early Internet business strategy companies. Under Matthew's leadership as president and later CEO, K2 was named to AdWeek's Top 25 Interactive Agencies and Crain's "New York's Top 15 Players" and attracted many Fortune 1000 clients. Matthew was then recruited to become president for desktop application developer Arcavista Corporation, best known for its work with RCA and American Idol. At Arcavista, Matthew helped to transform the company, its products and its branding, responsible for the development of the company's vision, flagship Communicator Platform product, and its general operations. Matthew was recognized as one of "New York's 100 Top Internet industry Executives" by Silicon Alley Reporter, and dubbed an "Internet Economy Architect" by The Industry Standard. He began his career at NBC, Universal Studio's Motion Pictures Group and also worked as an agent in Los Angeles. He later became vice president of new media of SCS, a software developer serving clients such as Marvel Entertainment.
Stephanie Quay, Site Director, TV.com, CNET Networks Inc.: Stephanie Quay has spent the past 10 years in the entertainment industry garnering both above and below-the-line credits. She has worked in front and behind the camera in over 20 productions in television and film, and received a nomination for a Hollywood Discovery Award in 2000 for her portrayal of a teen pop icon during the heyday of cult classics. Currently, Quay is manager of industry relations at TV.com, the online community and information resource for todays passionate TV fan, where she spearheads all of the industry relations and partnerships for the brand. Seeing a need for new distribution outlets for independent films, Quay focused her earlier ambitions on starting an IP-based Video-on-Demand Company, Broadline Media Corp. where she served as CEO until 2005. Earlier, Quay founded the independent production company Liquid Film Factory, LLC shortly there after, producing "The Last American Virgin" among others. She fulfills her philanthropic goals through non-profit, San Francisco FilmWorks, Inc. which educates and encourages filming in the bay area.
Jen Soch, Vice President, Associate Director of Advanced TV, MediaVest USA: Jen Soch, Vice President, Associate Director of Advanced TV, MediaVest USA: In her current role as Vice President, Associate Director of Advanced TV, MediaVest USA, Jen Soch is responsible for the Emerging Media practice for MediaVest clients. Jen works closely with her clients to navigate the complex world of Advanced TV platforms including video-on-demand, digital video recording, interactive program guides, navigation, addressable advertising and interactive/enhanced television. Jens early recognition of the growing role emerging media plays in the overall marketing mix has earned her applause from her clients and colleagues as well as formal recognition from leading industry bodies. Recently, her work on a multi-media initiative with Kraft, A&E and People Magazine was recognized with three different awards, The Creative Media Award in Interactive/Enhanced Television (sponsored by Media Magazine), the MIXX Bronze Award in Interactive Television (sponsored by the Interactive Advertising Bureau) and Runner-up in the OnDemandies (sponsored by Digital Hollywood); all annual awards recognizing creativity and effectiveness of Advanced TV programs. Jen is well-equipped to take on her current role. Armed with over ten years of experience in traditional and emerging media (including roles in international media planning), she has worked on a broad spectrum of high-profile accounts including Dell Computers, Intel, Compaq Computers, Iridium, Goldman Sachs and UPS. She has also served as the Director of Advertising for EarthLink. Jen is an active member of the AAAA Digital Video Innovation Committee and an ID!A Steering Committee Member. She holds a B.S. from Lehigh University, an M.B.A. from Fordham University Graduate School of Business, and is a member of Beta Gamma Sigma, the MBA honor society.
Geoff Allen, Chairman and Founder, Anystream, Inc.: Six years ago, Geoff Allen envi sioned a future where the demand for digital media would outpace the media industrys ability to produce content for emerging platforms. This vision was the genesis of Anystream, the leading provider of automation software used by broadcasters and media companies worldwide to repurpose content for digital transmission over the air, through the Web, cable VOD, mobile and other distribution platforms. An accomplished industry speaker, Geoff brings nearly twenty years of technical and business expertise spanning the domains of digital media and Internet technologies. Early in his career, he founded Source Digital, a successful systems integrator focused on digital media solutions. He has an extensive background in cutting edge Internet video applications, previously serving as Chief Technology officer for Internet consulting company IXL. Geoff also founded Axicom, one of the earliest companies focused on digital ad insertion. Today, his six year old company, Anystream, counts as customers all of the major TV networks, most of the top cable networks, hundreds of broadband media companies, scores of broadcasters, all the major cable MSOs, several Telcos, and a variety of global media companies around the world. This position, at the center of the digital media revolution, provides Geoff Allen with a unique perspective on the digital media business models contending to emerge in the near future, and what technologies will be required to enable them.
Curt Hecht, EVP Chief Digital Officer, GM Planworks: Curt Hecht is an integral t hought leader at GM Planworks, the unit of Starcom MediaVest Group (SMG) committed to media planning, research and buying on behalf of automotive giant General Motors. Hecht is a communications navigator, dedicated to mapping the evolving digital media landscape and guiding GM, one of the nations largest advertisers, toward innovative and engaging consumer contact. He works directly with the GM advertising and CRM teams. Hecht hones his media insight within the forward-thinking idea incubator that is the SMG network to fuel GMs brand plans across a variety of emerging digital technologies. He is profoundly familiar with how consumers receive, embrace, interact with and manipulate messages making him well-equipped to advise the client on new media and how best to employ it to effectively reach consumers. Currently, Hecht is assessing the new ways in which consumers engage with the GM product. Accounting for the increasing convergence of a variety of media, Hecht explores how GM can lead the migration of the webs search, video and behavioral targeting capabilities to television. He also directly oversees relationships with the likes of Yahoo, Google, and the cable MSO advanced TV offerings. During his sixteen years within SMG, Hecht has amassed a variety of communications experience, including service to such blue-chip clients as United Airlines, 7-Up, McDonalds and Morgan Stanley. Assignments included develop of communication plans to assisting in cross client agency sports and kids negotiations. He also opened an office for Starcom in 1999 with the then anchor client of Excite@Home and E! television network. "Combining his expansive digital perspective of both the internet and TV with our "cross-screen" management approach and GMs leverage you will see start to see the next iteration of advertising and marketing come out of GM Planworks" said Planworks CEO/President Dennis Donlin. Presently, he is an active member of the AAAAs advanced video committee, i20 and Ad:Tech advisory boards. Hecht resides in Winnetka, IL with his wife and daughter. An avid road cyclist, he founded an award-winning 20-member elite cycling team, which has raced nationally and internationally.
Ed Forman, COO & Executive VP, ICTV Inc.: Ed rejoined ICTV in 2006 with the goal of combining the choice and control of the Internet with the responsiveness and video quality of television. Ed returned to the company after co-founding and serving as CEO of Switched Media, a developer of solutions for mass customization of live video streams that merged with ICTV. In his previous stint with ICTV, from 2001-04, Ed served as senior vice president of marketing and in an executive consulting capacity and was instrumental in launching the companys HeadendWare product. Previously, Ed had been president and CEO of RealContax, Inc. and vice president of marketing and new ventures for enCommerce, Inc., an Entrust acquisition. From 1996-99, Ed was senior vice president of product development and marketing for Elemental Software, Inc., where he managed the development and launch of "Drumbeat," the first drag-and-drop tool for active server pages, and helped to engineer the companys sale to Macromedia. Other key career accomplishments have included launch of the first system for accessing relational databases from off-the shelf PC applications with Network Innovations, and sale of the company to Apple Computer, and the launch of the first mobile wireless e-mail solution with RadioMail. Ed is a graduate of Harvard College, and earned his MBA from Stanford Graduate School of Business. He enjoys cycling, tennis, travel and cross country skiing. As a cyclist, he has been a mentor to Team in Training, an organization that helps individuals achieve personal goals while raising money to find cures for blood cancers.
